Thymalin (Thymus Extract)

Thymic Peptide Bioregulator · Immune Modulator

Overview

Thymalin is a natural peptide bioregulator derived from calf thymus gland, developed in the Soviet Union in the 1970s. It contains a mixture of thymic peptides that support immune restoration, anti-aging, and tissue regeneration. Research spanning decades has shown significant geroprotective effects, with studies demonstrating up to 2-fold reduction in mortality rates and 4-fold reduction when combined with Epithalamin.

Thymalin's immunoprotective action stems from short peptides (KE, EW, EDP) that specifically bind to double-stranded DNA and histone proteins to regulate gene expression. It stimulates differentiation and activity of T-lymphocytes, especially CD4+ and CD8+ cells, promotes cytokine regulation, enhances antigen response, and stimulates stem cell differentiation. It also affects gerontogene activity and immune system protein synthesis.

Stimulates T-lymphocyte differentiation and activity for comprehensive immune system restoration.

Accelerates recovery of lymphocyte populations including CD4+, CD3+HLA-DR+, B-cells, and NK-cells.

2.0-2.4 fold reduction in acute respiratory disease incidence in elderly patients.

Clinical studies showed 2.0-2.1 fold mortality reduction over 6-8 years in treated elderly.

  • Injection site reactions (mild)
  • Practically no side effects reported
  • Signs of allergic reaction

Reported effects in literature

  • Clinical studies showed 2.0-2.1 fold mortality reduction over 6-8 years in elderly patients. When combined with Epithalamin, the reduction reached 4.1 fold - one of the most significant longevity effects documented for peptide bioregulators, though these were observational studies rather than randomized trials.

FAQs

Can Thymalin prevent or reduce severe COVID-19?

Thymalin showed faster reversal of lymphopenia (low lymphocyte counts) and improved recovery of CD4+, CD3+HLA-DR+, B-cells, and NK-cells in severe COVID-19 patients. While not a cure, it may accelerate immune recovery in immunocompromised COVID patients, making it relevant during severe cases.

Is Thymalin the same as Thymalin extract or are there different formulations?

Thymalin is the standardized peptide extract mixture from calf thymus containing short peptides (KE, EW, EDP) that work synergistically. Different manufacturers may vary slightly in composition, but all authentic Thymalin contains these core immunoactive peptide components in similar ratios.

Why use Thymalin if Thymosin Alpha-1 is synthetic and more standardized?

Thymalin is a natural extract with multiple synergistic peptide components, while Thymosin Alpha-1 is a single synthetic peptide. Thymalin's broader spectrum may provide geroprotective and antitumor effects beyond Thymosin Alpha-1's immune focus. Combined use is compatible and may enhance outcomes in comprehensive protocols.
